This Privacy Policy explains how Meldi collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Meldi mobile application on iOS or Android and related services. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to Meldi.

1. Who can use Meldi
Meldi is intended for users who meet the minimum age required in their country, region, and app store settings. We may ask for your birthday during profile setup to support age-appropriate eligibility, safety, and discovery features. Do not use Meldi if you are not old enough to use the service where you live.
2. Information we collect
Account and authentication information
We collect information needed to create, secure, and manage your account, such as your email address, password authentication data, name, birthday, country, locale, username, and account identifiers. If you sign in with a third-party sign-in provider, that provider may send us authentication tokens and profile information such as your email address and name, depending on your provider settings.
Profile and discovery information
Meldi is a social language-learning and discovery app. We collect the profile information you provide or generate in the app, including profile photos, bio, gender, country, languages, proficiency levels, learning goals, correction preferences, response-speed preferences, interests, personality tags, profile theme, icebreaker answers, visibility settings, streaks, boosts, follow relationships, blocked users, profile visits, and profile insight data.
Some profile information is visible to other Meldi users according to the app's design and your settings.
Messages, social content, and user content
We collect the content you create or send in Meldi, including chat messages, image messages, voice messages, message reactions, replies, saved phrases, profile references in messages, Moments, posts, comments, replies, reactions, reports, support tickets, and support replies. Messages are shared with the intended recipient. Posts, Moments, comments, reactions, and profile activity may be visible to other users depending on the feature, visibility setting, and moderation rules.
Photos, camera, microphone, and photo verification
With your permission, Meldi may access your camera, photo library, and microphone so you can add profile photos, send chat media, create social posts or Moments, complete photo verification, and record voice messages.
Photo verification may ask you to take live verification photos. Verification photos are stored privately and reviewed by authorized reviewers, who may compare them with your profile photos to check whether they appear consistent. They are used to determine whether to show a photo verification badge and are not public profile photos. Meldi may perform basic on-device quality checks before upload, such as checking whether an image is readable, very dark, very bright, or too soft.
Location information
If you grant location permission, Meldi may collect precise or approximate location information to show nearby users, help others nearby find your profile, support distance-based discovery, and infer local time or time zone. You can disable location access in your device settings. If you disable location, nearby and location-based features may not work.
Notifications and device information
If you allow notifications, we collect and store push notification tokens, an app installation identifier, platform information, and limited device information needed to deliver notifications and manage account-device association.
Subscriptions, purchases, and entitlements
If paid features are enabled, purchases are processed by an app store or another payment provider. Meldi does not receive your full payment card details from app store payment processing. We may store subscription status, entitlement level, expiry date, renewal/cancellation state, boost credits, and purchase-related account metadata so that premium features can work.
Ads, usage, diagnostics, and app operations
Meldi may collect usage and operational information such as app interactions, feature usage, ad availability, ad interactions, profile visit counts used for ad timing, support context, app version, platform, locale, crash or error information, performance information, request logs, cache metadata, and abuse-prevention signals.
Meldi uses advertising partners where ads are enabled. Advertising partners may collect or receive information such as IP address, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, ad interactions, product interactions, diagnostics, performance data, and advertising data for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. Your choices may depend on your device settings, consent prompts, region, and whether you have an ad-free entitlement.
AI feature information
When you use or enable AI features such as translation, message correction, or conversation assistance, Meldi may send the relevant text and limited metadata, such as language codes, message ID, conversation ID, content type, quota status, provider, and model, to our backend and AI processing providers.
Meldi may keep local translation caches on your device and may store eligible short translations in a shared backend cache to reduce repeated AI calls. The app avoids shared caching for texts that appear to contain URLs, email addresses, phone-like values, or long number sequences. You should avoid submitting sensitive information to AI features.
3. How we use information
- Create, authenticate, and secure accounts.
- Operate profiles, discovery, nearby users, follows, blocks, visibility, chat, social content, notifications, and support.
- Store and deliver messages, media, posts, Moments, comments, reactions, and user-generated content.
- Personalize matches, language-learning features, profile recommendations, and app settings.
- Provide AI translation, correction, and conversation assistance when enabled or requested.
- Review photo verification requests and show verification status.
- Provide moderation, reporting, safety, fraud prevention, abuse prevention, and account enforcement.
- Manage subscriptions, premium entitlements, boosts, and ad-free access.
- Show ads, measure ad delivery, prevent ad fraud, and control ad frequency where ads are enabled.
- Diagnose bugs, improve performance, monitor costs, and maintain service reliability.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.
4. How information is shared
- With other users, when you create a profile, send messages, follow users, view profiles, react, comment, post, create Moments, or use other social features.
- With service providers that help us run Meldi, including cloud hosting, authentication, database, storage, push notifications, media delivery, AI processing, advertising, app store and payment processing, customer support, moderation, analytics, and infrastructure providers.
- With authorized administrators, moderators, reviewers, and support staff who need access to operate safety, support, moderation, and photo verification workflows.
- When required by law, legal process, safety needs, fraud prevention, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Meldi, users, or others.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate protections.
We do not sell your profile content or chat messages. Some advertising and analytics practices involving identifiers may be considered "sharing", "targeted advertising", or "cross-context behavioral advertising" under certain privacy laws.
5. Your choices and controls
- Edit profile details, photos, language information, interests, bio, icebreakers, and visibility settings in the app.
- Enable or disable location, camera, photo library, microphone, and notification permissions in iOS or Android settings.
- Use blocking, reporting, profile visibility, active-status, and incognito profile visit settings where available.
- Delete messages, posts, Moments, photos, saved phrases, or other content where the app provides deletion controls.
- Manage subscriptions through your app store account settings, where applicable.
- Reset or limit advertising identifiers and personalized ad settings through your device settings and applicable consent prompts.
- Contact us to request access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, restriction, withdrawal of consent, or other rights available under applicable law.
Where Meldi relies on your consent, you may withdraw that consent by changing the relevant in-app setting, disabling the relevant iOS or Android permission, changing your advertising or notification choices, or contacting us. Some features may stop working if the related permission or consent is withdrawn.
6. Account and data deletion
Meldi provides an in-app account deletion flow in Settings. When you delete your account, Meldi attempts to delete or remove your account, authentication record, profile row, profile images, chat conversations and messages involving your account, chat media uploaded by your account, and private photo verification uploads associated with your account.
Some information may remain for a limited period where needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, backups, audit logs, moderation records, or to protect other users. Some content shared with others may already have been viewed, copied, cached, or included in notifications or moderation workflows. Community, support, notification, follow, block, report, and profile-insight records tied to your user record may be deleted through database rules or retained only where legally or operationally necessary.
If you cannot access the app, email devbecontact@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account to request account deletion. We will review deletion requests and respond within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days unless a different period is required or allowed by law.
Deleting your Meldi account does not automatically cancel any active app store subscription. If you have an active subscription, you should also manage or cancel it through your app store account settings.
7. Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide Meldi, maintain your account, operate safety and moderation systems, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
- Account and profile data are generally kept while your account is active.
- Moments expire after 24 hours, though related logs, notifications, or moderation records may last longer.
- Notifications are designed to expire after a limited period.
- Rejected or canceled photo verification uploads are deleted or queued for deletion; approved verification evidence may be kept privately while needed to support verification and safety.
- Local caches remain on your device until cleared by the app, the operating system, or you.
- Backups and provider logs may persist for a limited period after deletion.
8. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including authenticated access controls, row-level security where applicable, private storage for verification photos, signed upload URLs, encryption in transit where supported by providers, and restricted admin/reviewer access. We require service providers that process user data for Meldi to use appropriate safeguards and to process that data only for permitted purposes. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. International transfers
Meldi and its providers may process information in countries other than where you live, including the United States and countries where our infrastructure or service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
10. Legal bases for EEA, UK, and similar regions
- Contract, to provide the app and services you request.
- Consent, for permissions, optional features, certain notifications, location access, personalized advertising where required, and other consent-based processing.
- Legitimate interests, for safety, moderation, fraud prevention, service improvement, diagnostics, and app operations.
- Legal obligation, to comply with laws, lawful requests, accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
11. California and similar privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, and to opt out of certain sharing, targeted advertising, or sale-like uses. To exercise these rights, contact devbecontact@gmail.com.
We do not knowingly sell personal information in the traditional sense. Advertising identifiers and ad interactions may be shared with advertising partners for ads, measurement, analytics, and fraud prevention where ads are enabled.
12. Third-party links and services
Meldi may include links or interactions with third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice as required by law, such as by updating the date above, showing an in-app notice, or using another reasonable method.
